SMART lab has been working on developing a low cost simulator for laparoscopic surgery in collaboration with Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. For the purpose of understanding the Operation Theater environment and the challenges faced by surgeons in performing Laparoscopic Surgery, SMART lab visited the Holy Family Hospital, last week, where they witnessed a live operation! SMART lab also visited the Simulation lab at Holy Family Hospital where we were allowed to play with expensive simulators available for training surgeons for laparoscopic surgery. The visit was made possible with the help of Dr Asif Zafar who is a Professor of Surgery and Head of Surgical Unit II at Holy Family and the support of the administration of SEECS (School of EECS) at NUST.
